Pixie

There's nothing not to love about 4 year-old PIXIE, an adorable, pure-bred, female Mini Dachshund with a very sweet and placid temperament.

Reluctantly surrendered by her owner because the other resident dogs were picking on her, Pixie doesn't have a mean bone in her body and loves everyone, especially children. She grew up in the country and has been successfully exposed to horses, guinea fowl, sheep and a cat.

Very well trained by her previous owner, Pixie can walk to heel, whether on a lead or without. She just loves to pitter-patter alongside her favourite human. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She has excellent recall and, true to her breed, is a highly intelligent, robust and determined little dog.

Playful and lively with the most soulful eyes and a heart of gold, Pixie would make a delightful addition to any home. She is accustomed to having ready access to the inside of the home and, if invited, loves to cuddle up on her human's bed.

Pixie has had a complete DNA-based genetic profile done and has been cleared of breed-specific diseases. She is about a kilo or so overweight at present, courtesy of a three-week holiday with her previous owner's friends who overfed and under-exercised her. But aside from that, she is in extremely good health and her teeth are excellent.

As she is inclined to be submissive around other dogs, we are looking for a home where Pixie will be the only dog in residence and where her humans have the time and inclination to indulge her need for human companionship. Pixie is used to having someone around most of the time and is not suited to full-time workers.

To be happy and healthy, Pixie needs plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. She loves to go for a walk or two every day and enjoys playtime, whenever the opportunity may arise.

Her adoption fee is $1200 and she is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
