About King
I'm King and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• Rides in the car
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I've met some dogs at the shelter but I'm really not interested in interacting with them
• I have happily lived with a cat so should be ok with a slow introduction.
• I have previously lived with children
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent with no holes or gaps - I am a digger)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman et) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence.
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
My best features:
• LOVE people, once I get to know you
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit on command and am very food motivated
• I walk well on lead
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet.
• I do have a fear of the vet, further desensitization & positive encounters will help this.
• I do get anxious when I'm left home alone and can become destructive (I have been surrendered back to the shelter because of this). Having another dog for company, a family who has a lot of time for me and includes me in as many daily activities as possible as well as lots of mental & physical enrichment and days at doggy daycare would be ideal for me.
• I am possessive of my food around other animals, if going to a home with other pets we must be fed separate
