About Ray
Ray is the most lovable, goofy, good boy. He has a gorgeous energy about him. Ray loves to be a part of all things, is always up for pats and a kiss. Ray wants to greet everyone in the street on his walks.
Ray is black with white socks and a slowly forming distinguished grey beard. He has big gorgeous amber puppy dog eyes that melt your heart. Ray has super animated facial expressions. His fur is super soft especially his ears. Ray becomes airborne at the hint of a walk. He needs a couple of decent walks in his day so he can concentrate on napping for the rest of the day.
Ray loves his zoomies so a yard is preferred. He’s happy hanging out with other dogs but humans are his thing. So Ray prefers his humans to be at home more than not.
Ray is extremely trainable and has learnt to wait for his food and will eat when he is told, he doesn’t jump on beds or couches unless he is invited (although he would love to) Mind you, Ray will sneak onto your bed when you are out…but that’s his little secret, dont tell anyone.
Like other rescued hounds Ray does have some sleep startle -doesn’t appreciate been woken from sleep but this is well managed with crate training.
Ray does get extremely excitable when he see’s other dogs and needs to be slowly introduced to them. Give him lots of pats and tell him he is a good boy and in two minutes and he is their best friend. He will remember them next time and be a cool dude.
Ray is full of quirks, he sometimes forgets to put his tongue back in his mouth, especially when he shakes.
Rays ears are very lively, sometimes one is backwards, and one is forwards, or sometimes one is up and one is down.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
