About Frankie ~ 3yr Old Kelpie X(On Trial 25/4/21)
Frankie is a sweet-natured 3-year-old female kelpie cross (possibly foxy). She is a very affectionate girl who just wants to be loved. She enjoys being around her humans, is eager to please and is food-centric which makes her readily trainable. She has been sleeping in a gated room and is happy to stay there until her humans wake up but we are told she is just as happy outside in a kennel.
Frankie loves her car rides and is very excited to get into the car. She is still learning not to jump up on people but when she does jump, she does it very gently. She loves her walks and walks well on lead provided a harness is used. When she sees you get the lead, she becomes VERY excited and will jump up trying to grab it. She will then carry the lead in her mouth to the door and continue to carry it until she is on her way. Frankie is learning not to do this and this behaviour will need to continue to be curbed. She has excellent recall.
Frankie is friendly with other dogs and would prefer an older calm dog as a companion. She is initially inquisitive when meeting cats but reacts when they hiss at her so for this reason, she would not suit a home with a cat. She does need to be fed separately as she is a resource-guarder. Frankie requires secure fencing and ongoing training to be the best companion she can be for her humans. Frankie would prefer not to share her home with young children and, ideally, she would suit a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time.
