About Zuko
Meet Toph and Zuko,
These two babies have been through a lot in their short life. They were brought to us by a caring member of public who was struggling to find a rescue willing to take them on with their eye condition in November last year until she contacted us.
Zuko isn't fazed by a thing, he loves attention and he loves having his photo taken
Zuko is definitely a big love bug, he will follow you around everywhere especially once he settles down. He is also very active boy and loves a good chase.
We would love to see both Toph and Zuko go to a new forever home together as they are very attached to each other.
They have both met dogs and showed no fear so would do well in any environment they are in.
Medical notes
Zuko was born with eyelid agenesis in both his eyes and micropthalmia in the right eye.
Micropthalmia is a congenital condition where the eyes have not completely developed and are smaller than normal, unfortunately due to the eyelid agenesis the right eye was severely damaged and had to be removed.
Eyelid Agenesis is also a congenital defect where the top eyelid hasn't correctly formed and curls under so the hairs of the eyelid rub onto the cornea of the eye causing ulceration.
After visiting the specialists at The Eye Clinic For Animals a treatment plan was created and Zuko's left eyelid was injected with a similar product to the lip filler we can get to fill the eye lids out, then 4 weeks later he had surgery to transplant a small portion of the lip to the top lid creating a new eyelid. This has healed tremendously well and hopefully wont cause further issues in the future. The wonderful specialist who performed this procedure has kindly offered their support to the new owners of both Toph and Zuko if there are any concerns as they get older.
