About Toph
Meet Toph and Zuko,
These two babies have been through a lot in their short life. They were brought to us by a caring member of public who was struggling to find a rescue willing to take them on with their eye condition in November last year until she contacted us.
Toph can be a little reserved at first, it may take a few months before she completely settles into a new environment with new smells and sounds.
Despite being reserved at first, once she settles in Toph, is definitely the adventurer of the two, even with minimal vision she loves to climb and jump of things with out a second thought. Nothing will slow her down!
We would love to see both Toph and Zuko go to a new forever home together as they are very attached to each other.
They have both met dogs and showed no fear so would do well in any environment they are in.
Medical notes
Toph was born with both micropthalmia and eye lid agenisis in both her eyes
Micropthalmia is a congenital condition where the eyes have not completely developed and are smaller than normal, although this means she has minimal vision, there are no long term issues to be expected.
Eyelid Agenisis is also a congenital defect where the top eyelid hasn't correctly formed and curls under so the hairs of the eyelid rub onto the cornea of the eye causing ulceration.
After visiting the specialists at The Eye Clinic For Animals a treatment plan was created and both Toph's eyelid were injected with a similar product to the lip filler that we can get to fill the eye lids out, then 4 weeks later she had surgery to transplant a small portion of the lip to the top lids creating a new eyelid. This has healed tremendously well and hopefully wont cause further issues in the future. The wonderful specialist who performed this procedure has kindly offered their support to the new owners of both Toph and Zuko if there are any concerns as they get older.
The adoption fee is $400 for both kittens
