About Gusto
Gusto is a gentle, easy going gentleman with an enthusiasm for life. He gets excited to greet every visitor to the home and anyone who will say hello on his walks.
Gusto has moderate energy levels and is happy with one good walk and a couple of shorter trips out, maybe a car ride to the shops with you. He does enjoy hanging out at the cafe with you, particularly if you have ordered a side of bacon…just saying.
Gusto is happy to meet most dogs on his walks, a little wary of the little ones though. Its really the people he loves to meet.
Gusto is very particular with his toys. Every night his foster mum tidies up all his toys to put in the basket. Gusto will proceed take them all out again one by one until he finds the one he wants. If he cant find the one he wants he will search the house for it.
You will always have a laugh with this gentle dork. Whether it's in the morning when he mumbles until he gets his tummy rubs or chases the vacuum cleaner while you are doing the housework. Maybe it's when he stumbles out of a deep sleep with his tongue hanging out, his tongue taking rather longer to wake up than the rest of his body.
Gusto will do very well in most homes provided he gets lots of human company.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
