About Darby - 4 Year Old Kelpie X (Trial)
This beautifully unique girl is the funny, happy-go-lucky, super affectionate, Kelpie cross Darby.
Darby fills your days with love and laughter with her wonderful personality. There is never a dull moment with our girl Darby and she will fill your life with joy.
Darby is very gentle and affectionate with young children and does not jump up. She is currently living with a family that have three primary school aged children, which also includes a special needs child. She has nothing but love for her little human friends and is a wonderful family dog.
True to her breed, Darby is extremely loyal and is a very clever girl. She is also treat motivated, which makes her a breeze to train.
She is fully toilet trained and sleeps through the night on her bed. She is excellent in the car. Knows sit, stay, drop, in your bed, down, rarely jumps up and will sit for food. When out walking she will stop and stay on command before you tell her it is safe to cross the road.
Darby is a medium sized dog of 20kgs and not as high energy as a full-breed Kelpie. She is quite content to have a play in the backyard with her favourite ball and a walk. For the rest of the day, this girl likes nothing more than being every where you are. Hanging out in the garden, laying at your feet or in the sunshine.
When out walking Darby can initially be very strong and pull in her excitement to sniff everything. Because of this, she will need someone in her life that is confident and who can continue to work with her to improve her lead skills.
Darby overview
- Needs an experienced family that can provide leadership and a playful home to keep her mentally stimulated.
- Needs a family who are confident with strong dogs while walking and committed to ongoing lead training.
- Loves humans so needs a family who are home more often than not and who welcome her into the family home.
- Needs to be an inside/outside dog with a bed inside at night.
- Fully fenced large yard with high fences.
- Is dog selective so needs to be the only dog in the household.
- No cats or pocket pets.
Darby suffered an injury to her rear right leg prior to coming into care and as a result has slight arthritis in that leg. Currently, this can be easily managed by making sure she isn’t over exercised, but she may require treatment in the future.
Darby is located in Warners Bay, NSW. Her adoption fee is $250 which includes all up-to-date vet work, such as desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she has been treated for fleas and worms.
