About Ted
Our Ted is looking for a sidekick to join him on all his adventures. A tall, golden fawn gentle-hound with exceptional eyeliner, the softest earsies and a tail that’s always in motion. Ted charms everyone he meets with his movie-star looks.
Affectionate with a penchant for couch cuddles, Ted just loves to be wherever you are. He has a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out) and will follow you around like a shadow. He would prefer that you work part-time or from home.
A model house guest, Ted has adapted well to pet life. He’s a clever cookie who doesn’t need to be told twice to ‘go to bed’. Ted also knows to wait before crossing the road. A quick learner, Ted will have no trouble continuing his touch training and learning new commands.
Ted greets each new day with enthusiasm, and is always adventure ready. Being a younger greyhound, Ted has more energy than your average couch potato. You won’t have to drag him around the block, but he’ll require a good snooze afterwards. Two longer walks a day would be perfect.
Whilst Ted can be a solo snoot, he would do well in a forever home with a large canine companion with similar energy levels! A backyard is a must for Ted to conduct his zoomies and play fetch. Puppy-like and playful, Ted loves toys and anything fluffy!
Ted is friendly with children, but often gets so excited that he forgets his size and loses all concept of spatial awareness -- for this reason, we do recommend a home with older children. During his time as a Gumtree Grey’s foster snoot, Ted has been socialised with various dog breeds, however we would still recommend calm introductions with other easy-going dogs.
Long walks in the park, cuddles on the couch, our big Teddy bear and leggy heart-throb is ready for his next adventure with you.
No cat or small dog applications please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
