About Nero
Nero is a friendly 1.5 year old staffy cross kelpie who is looking for his forever loving home.
He is a puppy in a strong, adult dog's body, still learning about the world. This means he needs a lot of patience and a family who can spend the necessary time with him throughout the day. This means no children under 12.
He is very focused, loyal and has a high chase drive and may chase other animals, vehicles or small children. This is getting better with training.
He is slowly learning about the world of dog toys and loves to chew toys up, however, he has steered clear of non-toys with his current family. He is currently living with two cats and ducks, but is supervised all the time. He is mostly calm at home but can be very easily excited.
He is currently kept indoors with his current foster family but has been kept outdoors previously. He is quite well behaved indoors, toilet trained, and has not chewed slippers and the like. He would benefit from having a large backyard with space for his zoomies and loves going on walks. He suffers from mild separation anxiety.
He has not been properly socialised with other dogs or cats and is currently undergoing training to help him understand how to socialise properly. He does show slight anxiety, reactivity and excitement when he sees another dog.
Meeting new people can be hard for Nero and he can displace fear reactive behaviours mostly towards men, however, this can be avoided with slow and calm interactions. He is overall very friendly.
He is a bit stubborn and still requires a lot of training, but he has great potential as he is eager to please.
Nero would be best suited as an only dog, but may get along with a calm female dog. A meet and greet would be required to determine this.
If you think he may be suitable to your family, please don't hesitate to apply.
He is currently undergoing training and socialisation with his foster family, so if you are interested and think he may be the right dog for you with a bit more training and socialisation, don't hesitate to enquire!
