About Poppy
Love like you've never been hurt, Bark like there's no one listening.
I'm on older lady looking for a family that will let me sit on the couch watching Golden Girls (with snacks!) during the day and chase me around the house at night.
Like the movie Gremlins I come into my own just after dark.. I'll only play with you until dinner is ready though and after that I'll go to sleep. I'll sleep where you sleep. I have my own bed but I'd love to occasionally sneak in with you. Cuddles are the best!
I'm a foodie at heart. I'm not a fussy lady, I like snacks of all shapes and sizes.
I REALLY love other dogs.. I'm a socialite at heart so I'd like it even more if you had a friend for me to walk and play with.
The vet said I was blind and deaf when i first came into care.. How rude! It's just dry eyes.. (I'm only blind in the dark) and while my hearing isn't what it used to be I can still sing the song of my people along with my sibling when those pesky visitors show up.
You'll need to take me on drives.. I live for drives in the car and will make sure i bring along my own special seatbelt. When you grab my seatbelt you'll be amazed at how fast a 14 year old lady can run.
Fully toilet trained and I'll let you know when I'd like to go out by incessantly scratching on the door until you give in to my demands.
I'm ok with kids but i do prefer them old enough to spoil me and sneak me treats.
Most of all I'd really like a family who is willing to pander to me and ban all future vet visits and baths.
Medical notes
Poppy is a senior girl who is estimated to be around 14 years old. She is not in perfect health, but she is a happy go lucky old lady who deserves a wonderful retirement home.
She has typical medical issues for a dog of her age which include being mostly deaf and blind, but not completely. She suffers from a common eye condition called KCS (dry eye) and has been using Optimmune drops for this, and is more recently on Tacrolimus drops to help with tear production.
She also has an enlarged salivary gland which hasn’t worsened since she has been in care. We don’t want to put her through an invasive surgery at this stage in her life, so we are taking the lack of growth as a good sign.
We also recommend she stays on a joint support supplement for her ageing bones, she currently has a half chew daily of Osteocare.
Poppy has had her dental work done and only lost 3 teeth. She is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea, tick, heart worm and intestinal worm prevention.
