About Kiva
Miss KIVA is a sweet youngster with a perpetual smile on her face. She was born around 13 September 2020 and weighs 25 kgs.
Although we haven't had Kiva DNA tested, we think she is a kelpie/wolfie mix. She has the lean physique, intelligence and sweet temperament of the kelpie with the distinctive body shape and hairy muzzle of the Irish Wolfhound. Check out the video in this profile and you'll see what we mean.
Playful and exuberant, Kiva greatly enjoys the company of humans and is happy to sit patiently at the feet of her favourite person for much of the day. However, like any young dog, she enjoys playtime and would probably be happiest with an active and similar-sized dog as a companion.
A very speedy girl, Kiva's zoomies are nothing less than impressive. She doesn't climb fences and only barks if someone is going by or if she's chasing a bird that threatens to land in her territory. She loves toys and still has a puppy-like tendency to chew the odd sock or shoe.
A highly intelligent dog, she is readily trainable and eager to please. She is accustomed to walking on a lead, but apparently walks better if she wears a Halti harness.
Kiva would suit an energetic couple or family with older children who can give her the activity and mental stimulation she needs. She is probably too speedy for little children.
She is very dog-friendly, but is untested with cats.
Unless she has a canine mate, she will dig holes if left alone for extended periods of time.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and there is another dog of similar size for her to play with. As always, secure fencing is essential.
Her adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
