About Topaz
Topaz is a female yellow Labrador raised in the Assistance Dogs Australia program. She is around 14 months old, she is desexed and is looking for her forever home!
Topaz is a lovable and affectionate girl. She has an excitable and exuberant personality. She is a highly intelligent dog, so she requires mental and physical stimulation. Topaz enjoys learning so proper mental stimulation will further help her learn and maintain the cues that she has learnt so far.
Although Topaz has shown some great qualities during her time in the Assistance Dogs Australia puppy education scheme, we have decided that she is not suitable to be placed as an Assistance Dog. Topaz does display some anxiety and sensitivity issues which can lead to vocalisation and destructive tendencies. Topaz would benefit from going to a neat and tidy home. When she does find her ideal home, Topaz will benefit from some initial training to help settle her into her new environment as well as having the time and patience to allow her to get comfortable in her new home.
All Assistance Dogs are accustomed to spending most of their time with humans so her ideal person or family would spend a lot of time at home with her. She also thrives on routine and would love to go to someone who leads an active lifestyle.
Topaz is social with other dogs and likes to play. If there is another dog in the home she goes to, we would like Topaz to meet them. She needs to be walked daily and would love to have a yard to play in.
Topaz is a healthy young dog. Vaccinations and parasite protection have been kept up to date. If you think Topaz could be the right dog for you or you have any further questions, please email Mel at mwatson@assistancedogs.org.au so that I can pass on an application form for you to complete.
