About Gem
Meet Gem! And what a Gem he is. He has a bit of a story to tell, but what he needs now is a new forever home. With another dog and a very patient and understanding human.
This guy is a love ball, so full of puppy energy and play. And once he knows you mean no harm, he is a loyal friend for life!!
Gem is a mixed breed (breeds listed based on a siblings DNA test result), and gets on with other dogs. He plays rough, but is ultimately quite submissive when it gets serious.
He is living on a rural property, and sleeps inside at night. He hasn’t tried to leave. So not fazed by the stock or wild animals creeping around on the other side of the fence. And loves the big acre yard to stretch his legs. He is a good dog. But needs someone with time and patience to expose him to the big wider world. New people and new experiences can be quite scary for him. Most of his time in foster care, have been about regaining his healthy weight (now healthy, with no known issues to disclose) and regaining his trust. So he is still learning some basic manners and human words. But loves food, so this will help with his ongoing training.
He’s not a jumpy dog. And loves to watch a good sitcom on the couch with you. And oh my, he loves a car ride.
He’s not a party animal, so if you have lots of people over for social events regularly, or live in busy suburbia, he may not be for you. But if you are looking for a dog to be your ultimate companion and greet you home with happiness he could be the dog for you. He will happily love to live with other dog. Untested with cats, and not been exposed to many children, but has behaved appropriately with them when he has met them.
