Hi everyone! My name is Gelato (Jelly for short), pleased to meet you!

I was rescued by Off The Chain after my owners abandoned my brother & I in a council pound. We don't know why our owner did that, but I guess I'm just another of the hundreds of dogs yearly that are dumped when we aren't cute puppies anymore. It's their loss- I am an amazing dog that will make a loyal friend for my new family!

Since coming into care, I have proven to be a lovely, friendly boy, who really deserves a second chance at life. It is clear I haven't always had someone care for me, and have learned to fear humans at times; if you raise your voice at me, I will sometimes drop to the floor and try to disappear into it, or roll onto my back in submission. But mostly I am a snuggly, happy boy who just wants to play!

I currently live with adult humans, a puppy, 3 adult dogs (some medium breed, some large breed), and cats! I get along great with everyone here. I can be a little nervous around new humans but quickly learn that there are more friends than foes, now that I've reached rescue! A few treats and we will be buddies. I love to play with my toys and run around, and I LOVE water! We went to the creek and I had a blast, splashing and playing. I also enjoy the clamshell pool in our backyard! I travel well in the car, and enjoy doing zoomies in the yard. Dinner makes my world go round...you'll often find me sitting and waiting patiently for you at the spot where I get fed, apparently even before it's food time! These humans need to get a better watch though, I think... if I had my way, it would always be food time!

I spend about 5hrs a day home alone with the other dogs, while my humans are away. I just hang out and play with them and keep myself busy. I get excited when everyone is home, but I also don't mind entertaining myself while they're gone, and don't fret as long as I have another dog for company.

I sleep on the deck at night, with the other dogs. I come inside each day to hang out, and am very gentle and playful with the cats. I am getting used to my walks; at first they scared me but as with everything, consistency and confidence is key! I walk with a 'halti' to stop me pulling and am making a lot of progress. I even get to go for runs next to a pushbike a few times a week, and I love that! It is so much fun for my foster care and myself!

I currently live behind a 5ft fence and would need the same in my new home to keep me safe. I would also prefer to have a dog friend to keep me company. I was beautifully natured at the vet clinic, and even though it was obvious I haven't had much medical care until OTC saved me, and I was a bit nervous- I still happily let them feed me treats and do what they needed. I know how to come, sit, lay down,stay, go to bed, and we are working on wait. I am a bit of mix of breeds, but definitely some mastiff in there, mixed with maybe wolfhound or staghound- who knows, who cares- I'm a lovely doggo with a huge heart! I am currently just over 30kg at 8 months old, so will likely be around 35kg as an adult.
