About Lexi ~ 1.5yr Staffy x ~ Pending Adoption 15/5/21
Meet Lexi, our very pretty and special 1.5 year old staffy x girl. If you love your dogs unique, bubbly and people-focused then you’re going to love this girl.
Lexi came to us with a severe and untreated injury to her front leg which resulted in her leg needing to be amputated. This strong and special girl has barely skipped a beat losing her limb - she has recovered so well learning to walk without it so quickly and never losing her smiley nature. As she continues to heal and build up strength in her remaining three legs she will be able to increase the length of her daily walks and stamina.
Lexi will happily introduce herself to new people - she is a confident young lass who will accept attention from new people she meets. She is smart and is doing well learning hand signals as part of her training - she’s even getting quite good at recall (when there’s not too many distractions!)
Lexi currently lives with 3 little dogs and a cat and she gets on quite well with them. She would prefer to be an only dog though as she’s quite fear reactive meeting new dogs due to her previously being attacked by a dog which resulted in her leg being removed. Lexi would be best matched with an experienced person who can teach her that other dogs aren’t all going to attack her so she can relax with new dogs around and learn to let her guard down.
Lexi would enjoy a grassy yard to play in and maybe even some older teenagers (who are confident with playful dogs) to play with. We’d suggest a home with no young or small kids as she is very likely to bowl them over goofing around.
Lexi would be in heaven with an active couple or family who will give her loads of attention and affection and allow her inside the house to have family time with them. She is such a people-dog that she wants to be wherever her family is.
For more information on Lexi please contact us on rescuepooch75@gmail.com Lexi is located near The Entrance on the NSW Central Coast. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Lexi’s adoption fee is $400 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Lexi has had her front leg removed recently due to an untreated dog attack wound. She is learning to walk well on only three legs however she needs to keep her walks relatively short until she can build up muscle tone and endurance in her other legs.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
