Hi everyone!
My name is Ray and I am a beautiful boy in search of my furever home! I was rescued from death row in a council pound and have been wonderful to care for since entering my foster home. It is not believed I have ever raced, and I am a very loving and happy boy.
I am pals with the other dog here, but also don't mind living alone! I get along well with other dogs once I've settled in, but can be a bit nervous at first. We expect this will improve with time, and my rescue has learned since rescuing me, that I did live with other dogs with my prior owner, and got along great with everyone. Sadly this is all they know about my past, but it doesn't really matter- let's just focus on my future!
I am currently living behind a 5ft fence and show no sign of wanting to escape, so would love a fence this high or higher to keep me safe. I currently sleep for around 15hrs a day and enjoy 15min walks daily. I may be interested in longer walks or jogs with you, but you'd need to help me train up and get fit as I am more interested in couch potato life! I currently sleep inside at night, and despite how lanky and awkward I am, I travel well in the car.
I was a little shy at the vet but let them do what they needed to do. I can be a little nervous when I first meet new humans, but I warm up quickly. A typical greyhound, I have trouble sitting due to tight muscles in my legs, but I am learning other things eg come, outside, bed. I like my toys, and to just hang out and enjoy your company. I have good leash skills, and my medium-large breed dog friends are a lot of fun at the park! (I am untested with small dogs, and it is not recommended I interact with them off leash).
I am well suited to a family with greyhound experience or willingness to educate themselves prior to meeting me, who has either no children or children 8yrs +. I don't like cats so shouldn't live with any.
I have some mild arthritis in my back hips, but this has so far been managed well by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld, who will send my adopter with some of the supplement I'm on (4cyte). It is great stuff and quite affordable.
My ideal family will continue my confidence-building and training, and treat me as part of the family. Does this sound like you? I'd love you to apply to meet me if so!
Medical notes
I have some mild arthritis in my back hips, but this has so far been managed well by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld, who will send my adopter with some of the supplement I'm on (4cyte). My rescue gets it from The Vet Shed (online). It is great stuff and quite affordable. It costs about 50c/day to give this amazing supplement to me, and it really helps my arthritis and allows me to live a normal life!
I had a dental done in April 2021 so my smile is sparkling fresh!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. Photos may be sent to our facebook page, or email offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com

If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
