About Maro ~ 10yr Old Kelpie X(On Trial 24/04/21)
Hi there - My name is Maro! I am a very youthful 10yr old female Kelpie X with the sweetest heart.
My favourite things are: pats and cuddles, walks, ball-play, dinner time and sleeping in my comfy bed. My foster mum tells me that I am very sweet and clever girl. I love kids and am very gentle. I like other dogs, though sometimes I need a few minutes to warm up to a new friend. I am very obedient and fairly good on the lead, meeting new friends can make me pull a little, but within my foster family an 8yr old girl has no trouble taking me for walks.
My foster mum tells me that with time & practice I will continue to improve. I can be a bit reactive to loud noises - like motorbikes, loud cars, raised voices & fire crackers. I’m pretty good with storms though & within a calm home environment I will likely continue to relax regarding loud noises. I am a bit of a vocal dog - but not really a ‘barker’. My foster family nick name me ‘Kitty’ because when I’m happy I often purr/growl. It sound ferocious, but I’m always wagging my tail and enjoying a pat or cuddle when I’m ‘purring’. I have never shown any aggression since coming into care.
I will bark at cars pulling into the driveway - or other dogs walking past, but I’ve made huge improvements & my foster mum calls me a ‘social barker’. These days I’m becoming just as happy to snooze on my bed and ignore the outside world. I think if I had another doggie-friend in my forever home that wasn’t a barker - I would forget about barking altogether. I am not a digger or a chewer & I take medication and handle trips to the vet like a champion. I don’t jump fences nor hang around doors looking to escape - quite the opposite! I do feel the cold and am accustomed to being an inside dog. I am completely house trained & am very respectful at mealtimes. I can be asked to sit and wait until given permission to eat food.
I am a happy girl with lots of love and devotion to give. I love to be with my people & while I do not fret when they need to leave me alone for a while - I would be most suited to an environment where someone is home most of the time. I enjoy a daily walk, but on days when a walk isn’t possible I’m just as happy to play with a ball in the yard, or just snooze the day away. I am desexed, up to date with my annual vaccinations, worming, dental, tick and flea care.
I currently live in Port Stephens with my foster family and am very eager to meet my forever family. To register your interest in adopting me, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Liv at livandmattcarson@mail.com
Maro's adoption fee is $300 and she is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and has been treated for fleas and worms.
