About Evie ~ Wolfhound X Puppy(On Trial 07/4/21)
Evie is a strong and smart 14 week old wolfhound cross who is looking for her forever family. She is a sweet, intelligent and fun loving pup who will grow to be a very large dog.
Evie loves her big doggy foster brother more than anything and needs an energetic and playful older dog to continue to teach her positive behaviours. She is very food motivated and can sit, and has almost mastered wait for her food. Ongoing training will be a must as her size means that cute behaviours now will become a problem when she is fully grown, but because she is so clever a consistent approach will bring lots of success.
Evie uses a doggy door so if you have one available, toilet training won’t be a problem. Even when inside she has had very few accidents. She loves to play tug and chew on soft squeaky toys. She does dig and chew when bored, so needs someone who understands that this is normal for her age and will provide ongoing stimulation to keep her mind and body active.
Although it’s early days, Evie is wonderful on the lead and quickly understood what to do when in a harness. She is a vocal girl who barks at passing dogs and people, although all she wants is to play or say hello. She would be best in a yard that isn’t open to passing traffic. Fences will need to be high, as when she is fully grown she will be easily able to jump over any low fences or gates.
It seems as if Evie spent her early life outside and she often chooses to sleep outside rather than inside. She needs a home where she can make her own choice. Evie would be fine outside during the day and doesn’t need someone at home if she has another dog to play with. Evie is not good with cats and would be best without pocket pets or with the option to keep them in separate areas. Her size means that a family with children would need to understand that normal puppy behaviour plus a large size means that constant supervision is needed when kids and dogs are together.
As she is not yet desexed, Evie is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as she will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. She is NOT available for long distance or interstate adoption.
She is currently living in Maitland NSW. Her adoption fee is $600 which covers desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments.
If you are interested in providing Evie with a wonderful forever home, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
