About Huxley
Huxley is an affectionate cuddly boy that isn't quite aware how big he is.
He needs a gentle and patient person.
He is a highly affectionate and loyal young man with plenty of potential to be the bestest boy!
An experienced adult-only home would suit Huxley’s nature perfectly. He is fine with strangers if introduced in a controlled manner with appropriate guidance. He is then relaxed and fine.
NO CATS OR KIDS PLEASE.
His long, lanky legs make him all the more adorable, but also does mean that if he’s bouncy he is bouncing at head height.
He is a good potential running buddy.
He is being fostered by our trainer and is responding well to training although it is clear that he hasn't had previous opportunities to learn much of anything and therefore is quite immature and behaves in boisterous inappropriate ways when he gets excited. We are looking for a home who will take his training needs seriously and we are hoping to support his new people with his training and settling in.
He is slowly learning to calm his own emotions and play at lower levels of excitability and energy. He can be wary of strangers if not introduced adequately but with knowledge and calmness he is comfortable quickly.
Although Huxley is very friendly with dogs, he is a little too friendly and hasn't yet grasped that jumping towards or on other dogs isn't the right way to greet. He will need ongoing guidance and support in this.
Potential adopters with the ability to read body language, introduce more appropriate ways to behave and are able to continue guiding Huxley on his journey to becoming a calmer more responsible dog please fill out an application. If you are patient and dedicated Huxley will become an absolutely wonderful dog!
Ongoing training will be offered to the potential adopter to ensure support and more than one meeting and greet will be needed to ensure it is the correct match.
Take home points:
* Hux needs follow on training with the support of a trainer. We are happy to support this.
*Inappropriate play with other dogs can make him unpopular
*He is a large immature young dog who needs guidance and boundaries to keep him safe
from poor choices
* We are seeking an adopter who is committed to training him for his future and maintaining
that training throughout his life
If I sound like we could be friends, please complete the short adoption application form in the attached link, please note this is the only way your application will be considered: https://homelesshounds.com.au/adopt/dogs
Medical notes
Huxley is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
He is in perfect health.
