ABOUT:
Once in a while those fosters come in that we understand will only be with us for a short amount of time, these ones enter our palliative program. Our hearts break knowing that we will need to say goodbye but we are determined to give them all the love and comfort we can until that time comes, Audrey was one these ‘special ones’.
Audrey came to us through our Last Litter Program and presented as a perfectly healthy little kitten. When she was desexed she crashed and tests indicated that Audrey had all kinds of issues going on in her little chest. The main one being a malformed chest which was affecting her heart and lungs, it was just too crowded in there. So the decision was made that she would be placed with her ‘palliative carer’ and be closely monitored. Here is where the amazing bit comes in, our ‘palliative ‘kitten didn’t seem sick at all after the initial few days. She ate well and as she grew she began to show what a sassy and adventurous little girl she was. At the follow up check our amazing vet was incredibly happy to say that Audrey was no longer palliative, in fact he couldn’t see any reason why she wouldn’t live a perfectly normal life with no restrictions. In the preceding month she had gained a whopping 800gms which resulted in her chest now having more room for her other organs, many happy tears were shed. This beautiful girl was given the all clear for adoption and here we are.
Audrey is a very energetic kitten who likes to be kept busy. She is forever chasing ping pong balls, carrying straws around the house and trying to prompt the resident cats of the house to play. She displays the typical Burmese trait of enjoying a game of fetch. She loves other cats, a little too much. She plays very enthusiastically and any feline friends will need to be able to keep up with her. She is great with gentle dogs after proper introductions.
Audrey is great with kids as they are always up for a game with her but we recommend the ages of 12 and up. Audrey can be mouthy in play, it’s always playful and she never hurts but it may be a little much for young children. She responds well to verbal corrections and distraction but it’s still a work in progress.
Whilst she is not a lap cat, she is definitely a lay right next to you and headbutt your phone out of your hand as she demands your attention kind of cat.
Audrey has a stunning black velvety soft coat with ticks of chocolate and white.
Medical notes:
As mentioned our vet believes that Audrey will lead a perfectly normal life and is more than happy to chat to her potential new family to answer any questions that they may have. The only note is that he recommends that she is not placed under anaesthesia unless necessary due to her adverse reaction when she was desexed. This is precautionary only.
