About Chizel
Chizel
Our handsome Chizel is now seeking his forever home. Chizel has been nicknamed Smooch by his foster family which is the perfect description for this gorgeous cuddly smoochy boy.
Chizel loves people. He will walk up to anyone hoping for a pat or head rub. At home he will often come up to you and rest his big head on your lap and look at you with his big brown puppy dog eyes. You just can’t resist a cuddle with this boy. He has the softest silkiest shiny coat too so a true delight to pat. At times he thinks he is a lap dog and will attempt to sit his 30kg body on your lap lol. He loves nothing more than a cuddle with his favourite humans
Personality
Very affectionate towards people so loves being inside near his humans but is also happy to be outside if you are away from home. He has a doggy door at his foster home so spends time inside and out as he pleases during the day. He spends a lot of his day sleeping and lazing around. He isn’t much of a barker unless someone comes to the house.
Other dogs
He has been living with a female dog which he gets along well with and has also had a few other female foster friends whom he has enjoyed playing and socialising with. He is not really a fan of large long haired dogs and some males as he likes to be the Alpha male so he would not be suited to attend dog parks or off lead areas for this reason as can be reactive to certain dogs. He is fine if walked at a distance at parks or with other dogs on lead. He has been friendly to smaller dogs when meeting. He has been off lead at quiet ovals without other dogs and does enjoy a good sniff and run around but he needs to feel settled in your home before letting him off lead
Walking
He absolutely looooves loves his walkies time and will jump around with excitement as soon as he hears you getting his lead out the draw. He will sit patiently while you put it on then eagerly heads to the front door ready to head out for a sniff and wee. He gets a daily 20 -30 min walk during the week with a longer walk on the weekend. He doesn’t have the best recall off the lead so will need to be on lead until he feels very comfortable with you. He can be a bit strong on lead at the beginning of a walk so he is being walked with a harness with a front clip (gentle leader) for better control so would need an owner that has had large dog experience. When out and about he will pull a bit if he sees another dog but is happy to keep walking on without to much effort. After about 15 min he does settle and walk quite well on lead
Car rides
Chizel enjoys a car ride. He is unable to jump into a car boot as he is an older gent, but will happily put up his front paws if you are happy to assist him up. He is able to get into a back seat but does need to be secured as he will move around the car. He prefers to stand than sit. At present he gets secured into the boot area with his lead. He should not be jumping down from heights so his foster mum lifts him from the car boot.
Play time/toys
Another one of his loves is his soft toys, his favourite thing is to make a hole in them, pull out the stuffing so don’t expect toys to last to long.
