Oscar

Oscar is a 10 month old kelpie cross staffy. He has a lovely golden coloured coat with white flashes on his nose, neck and chest. He has a short coat that will be easy to look after.

He is very affectionate and loves to sit right next to his humans and tries to climb into their lap. He has a sweet nature and gets on very well with his doggie friends down at the dog park. Oscar loves going for a walk and is a delight on the leash, he doesn't pull and is quite content to trot along next to his human. He is gentle around children and loves being next to them.

Oscar doesn't need the amount of exercise that a normal working dog would need but he certainly does enjoy his walks when he is taken out. Oscar needs to have company and the ideal home would be when someone is at home with him all or most of the day. Oscar shows no tendency to jump the fence or try to escape, he responds when called and returns willingly to his human. Oscar is fully house trained.

Oscar would enjoy the company of an active family with children of any age as long as there is someone at home most of the day. He needs to be taken for a walk at least once a day for at least a half hour. He would like a house with a doggie door.

Oscar loves being with people, he has a happy nature. He shows no tendency to chase a ball or to go into the water but he would try to follow his human into the water. Oscar loves going for a walk and sniffing around the front fences of houses in the street and running and playing with his doggie friends. Oscar loves his food especially tasty treats!

He is house trained and as he is treat focussed he would respond well to training for commands such as sit, lie down, roll over, shake paws etc. Training to sit on command needs to be reinforced as well as praise and the occasional treat when he returns immediately on recall. He will need further training to build up his confidence as he has shown signs of separation anxiety. Like all young dogs, Oscar likes to chew shoes!
