About Koda ~ 5 yr Rottweiler ~ Evaluating apps 24/3/21
This stunning girl is Dakoda (nicknamed Koda) - a 5 year old Rottweiler who’s extremely affectionate and friendly with everyone she meets . Koda is a bubbly tail-wagger who is also calm and well-behaved which makes for a great mix. If you love the Rotti breed then you’re going to love this sweetheart.
Koda is very smart and obedient - combine this with the fact that she loves food and your training sessions end up fun and rewarding for both you and her. She’s a relatively smaller girl in height so she would be a great match for a home that understands and loves her breed but don’t necessarily want a huge Rotti to join their family. She is carrying a few extra kilos currently - but hey aren’t most of us carrying a little extra weight due to COVID ? 😉
When out walking Koda is interested in saying hi to all the people she meets. She will happily receive pats and affection from new people and she will bounce around, play-bowing and yipping to new doggy friends in an attempt to get them to play with her. She loves other dogs, in particular dogs of a similar size to herself (she has also been known to tolerate little dogs running up and barking at her at the beach which says a lot about her sweet temperament)
Koda would best suit a home as either a single furchild where she gets all the love and attention, or matched with an easy going, playful medium to large male dog. We are specifically looking for a family who is experienced in Rottweiler ownership - so please only apply for Koda if you already have Rotti experience. As with most Rotti’s she dislikes cats so she won’t suit a home with cats, chickens or pocket pets.
Koda would love a grassy yard to play in and doze in the sun. She has her own toy box of favourite toys so she’ll happily keep herself entertained with toys or she may ask you to join in on a game of tug. She loves to bury her bones and then bring them back to show you her treasure! She is a touchy feely girl who leans on you and nudges you for pats.
Koda is an inside dog currently - sleeping inside on the bed or lounge. Although we know her new family may not want this big lump of love on the actual bed , it’s a requirement of her adoption that she must continue to be an inside dog who sleeps inside. She is the perfect watch dog with a deep bark who will guard the house from strangers but also welcome your friends over when they visit. She’s great with kids - however is better with older kids over 13 years due to her size when bounding around and her desire to lick them all over!
Koda may be a perfect match to retired or semi-retired singles or couples who are Rotti experienced and whose two legged kids have already grown and left home. This girl is loved and spoilt and will happily fulfil the role of being the new special furchild in your heart and home.
For more information on this gorgeous girl Koda, please contact Jo on rescuepooch75@gmail.com or fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt . Koda is located near Wyong (NSW Central Coast).
Koda’s adoption fee is $400. She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and she’s been treated for fleas and worms.. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
As with many Rotti’s Koda is predisposed to ear infections. This mainly affects her right ear and she’s been prescribed some medication that aids infections. She also has a limp in her front leg from an injury last year - she does love her walks but will favour her leg as she gets tired and after a long walk. Her new family should manage her exercise - ensuring she doesn’t overexert herself during play and walks, keeping her warm in colder weather and managing any stiffness as she gets older .
