About Banjo
Introducing Banjo. A sweet and gentle soul.
Let’s start with Banjo’s faults:
Banjo does not tolerate cats and will not be rehomed in a home with cats.
That’s it! Other than this one little personality flaw, this handsome blue heeler with his face full of scars from his previous life will make someone the perfect companion dog in almost every way.
Banjo strolled casually into his foster home with his three foster siblings barking madly at the fence - and he quietly and confidently made himself at home with no fuss whatsoever. He has excellent dog manners and is a friend to all dogs he meets so he would be a perfect candidate for a visit to the dog park. He is great with strangers and kids over 8 years and shows no sign of the wariness or snappiness that cattle dogs are often known for.
Banjo enjoys his walks and walks nicely on a lead with his tail wagging happily in the air - he does like to be in front but does not pull at all and has been walked regularly by a 10 year old. He shows no interest in chasing cars, bikes or scooters.
Banjo is typical of a cattle dog in that he is an independent thinker, and although his recall is good, if he sees something that he would like to go and explore, he is happy to go off for a little adventure before enthusiastically running back to you. Banjo has been exposed to sheep, horses, alpacas and cows during his time in foster care and although he likes to run along the fence with them, he has shown no interest in chasing them and will leave them alone when called.
Banjo is a very quick learner and has learned “sit”, “down” and “wait” very quickly. If his new owner were to take him to obedience/agility classes, Banjo’s brains and willingness to learn would have them earning top marks in no time.
This sweet boy is very mischievous and playful and has a penchant for stealing socks, shoes and toilet paper off the toilet roll holder so he will certainly keep his new owner entertained and on their toes.
Banjo is toilet trained and travels well in the car. Banjo would suit many single person or family situations - as long as he is given lots of opportunity for fun and adventures, and a nice comfy couch to snuggle up on next to his loved ones at night.
Considering his breed, he is active and will need room to move in his new home.
He enjoys the companionship of others dogs and being an active breed, he will not be happy in a home as an only dog. He will be looking for a home where he will have a young, active canine friend. Banjo would be a wonderful role model and companion for a pup who is looking for an older brother to learn from. He is extremely smart and chilled so will offer a calming personality for a younger dog.
Banjo would like a home where he is also offered time indoors. He loves being close to his people, is very affectionate and will be happiest if he is invited inside to share cuddles with his family.
If you think you meet the above home for Banjo, we would love to hear from you.
Banjo is currently in care with Lennon. They are great mates and have proven to us that having another dog in his foster home will be extremely important for him.

Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
