About lovey
Our darling girl, Lovey embodies sweetness. Lovey has one of those faces that just make your heart swell: a frosty snoot, with pinch of salt eyebrows, otter white whiskers and a deliciously cute overbite. Still your beating heart, there’s more!
Happy go-lucky, inquisitive, and quirky! You’ll smile every time Lovey stretches, as her head tilts skyward, she’ll flash her goofy overbite! Lovey dishes out affection tenfold and enjoys being doted on, but if you do need to go out, she’ll happily spend the day lounging and snoozing in her bed until you come home.
Lovey recently lost her person, so she’s been welcomed into the Gumtree Greys family as a foster in the hopes of finding love again. Well-versed in the good life, Lovey has lived in a home as a pet for the past few years. She’s toilet trained, and when she needs to go, she’ll be sure to let you know!
A short amble around the block is all Lovey needs, her walking speed is dialled right back to stop and smell the roses. She walks well on a leash, but can sometimes pull when she spots another dog who might be a potential friend! Lovey is a social butterfly; she makes a beeline towards other dogs just to say hello! She has met and socialised with many dog breeds, big and smaller, she loves them all! Lovey would be content as the only household hound or with a similarly matched canine companion.
A foodie at heart, Lovey will sound the alarm when it’s close to mealtimes. She’s got a knack of fluttering her gorgeous eyes to charm you into serving her a treat or two.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
