About Gus
Gus is a leggy noodle, blessed with stunning white fur and 101 black spots – it’s rumoured that the 102nd Dalmatian was actually a moo-hound. Gus wins the hearts of everyone he meets but it’s easy to fall in love with our dashing, smoochy and playful boy. He is also the owner of the softest velvety ears!
Our gorgeous goofball is confidence plus, and will make you laugh when he conducts his daily inspections of the house, and of your shopping too! What makes Gus so special is that he loves loud – he adores cuddling up close and resting his head on your shoulder for a snuggle.
Being a younger snoot, Gus has beans to burn – he is energetic and enjoys just a pinch more exercise than your average couch potato. He’s a pro at fetch and gets level 100 sillies for squeaky toys!
He’s very enthusiastic about long, twice daily walks. And like clockwork, he’ll make sure you know it’s walkies time. Gus would love a backyard to bounce around in, and a large canine companion with similarly matched energy levels to perform daily zoomies with. Without a companion and those twice daily sniffaris, Gus can get restless and find his own fun.
A cheeky monkey, Gus has a penchant for stealing shoes, and you’ll often find them in his bed. He’s still learning that not everything is a play thing though! Gus is a smart snoot who has already learnt how to sit. He walks well on a leash, but can sometimes zigzag when he’s checking his weemails.
Much to Gus’ dismay, he’s still learning that not all human food is ‘Gus food’. Don’t be tempted to leave your dinner unattended, because Gus provides a free of charge food disposal and clean-up service. All concept of spatial awareness disappears when food is involved, so you’ll have to be patient and positively reinforce boundaries.
Gus is ready for his next adventure with you!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
