About Rosie
I’m Rosie and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
What I need in my new home:
• I am an extremely timid girl who needs a very special home where I can grow in confidence in my own time.
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• Rides in the car
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, however I'm not very interactive with them but that may change in time.
• NO cats.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) Due to my timid and flighty behaviour I MUST go to a home that has secure fencing and gates as if I can escape I will most likely run away very quickly until I feel bonded with my new family
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Happy to live with children over the age of 10 as that's what I've been used.
• No young children as they may scare me
• One of the most important things I need is SOCIALISATION. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman et) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will assist in my confidence building and help me to see that the world isn't a scary place
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & livestock - I HAVE BEEN KNOW TO CHASE SMALL ANIMALS AND LIVESTOCK - I CANNOT LIVE ON A RURAL PROPERTY
• Small children due to my timid nature
• A noisy household - I need a quiet and calm environment to help me grow in confidence
My best features:
• Love kids, I have lived with children from 10 yrs to teenagers. However, I may take some time to get used to living with new people
• Gentle & placid
• I walk well on lead, although a little bit erratic due to my flighty nature
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet. Consistent training with positive rewards may help me build up confidence
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• Unsure in new situations – more socialising is needed
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this or having a doggie friend to keep me company.
