Sally has the sweetest temperament and not a mean bone in her body. She loves to play zoomies and rough-house with her foster sister, and although her foster sister can get a bit grumpy with her sometimes Sally never reacts and is quite submissive. She’s just always happy to have a friend close by even if they are moody sometimes. She also enjoys a good game of fetch and running through the sprinkler or hose.
Sally doesn’t display any food aggression or resource guarding. She’s happy eating next to her foster sister, and can have food taken out of her mouth without any reaction, although she will literally steal the food out of another dogs mouth and expect them to be ok with it too.
Sally loves as much attention as she can get. She loves every single person she meets. Sally’s favourite things in this whole world are her humans, she just wants to be loved and give you all of her love. She is excitable so has been learning not to jump up on little people - she is very good at not jumping up on the big humans and knows she needs to sit to get the pats she wants. Once she has calmed down she is the perfect family dog, happy to lay on the couch with the whole family or play fetch in the yard, whatever you are doing you should expect her to be right by your side.
Sally has been recovering from surgery on one of her hind legs that was broken before she came into care, so has had to take it easy. She is still working on rebuilding some muscle in this leg so she can eventually do all the running she wishes she could. Sally is definitely a high energy dog - she would be suited to an active family with a large yard who could play with her and take her on walks daily.
Due to the type of surgery she had, she will likely need ongoing in-home exercises to continue to build up her muscle and range of motion - simply going on gentle walks, sit-to-stand and some stretches will help with this.
Sally will need to a home with another similar sized dog, as she would become very stressed if she was left alone. She has been in foster care with a 5 year old female staffy and previously lived with other dogs.
Sally is extremely eager to please and very food-motivated which will make her continued training pretty easy. She is toilet-trained, crate-trained (sleeps through the whole night), has learnt sit, shake and is currently working on stay and lay which she will have mastered in no time. Sally can be easily distracted so some further practice with recall is needed. She will also need more lead training, as during her recovery she hasn’t been able to go on too many walks.
Medical notes
Sally is recovering from leg surgery due to a broken bone, and will require some in-home exercises to build up her leg muscle again.
