Chicho The Dude

A much loved child's cat, he was thrown outside when the child left home and got beaten up by all the neighbourhood toughs. While he tried his best to be a chilled out dude and keep up with the street cats, he really longed to be a loved up, spoilt inside cat again. His wish was granted when a carer saw his struggles and convinced the owner to surrender to Cat People of Melbourne.
Chicho the Dude has now reinvented as an inside cat who moves around all levels and is friends with anyone who'll be friendly (and tries his best to walk away from any aggression). He loves pats and head scritches and cheek smooches, adores food, loves cuddles but isn't desperate to be stuck his human all the time... he just wants to be around them and feel safe and loved again.
This glorious marbled ginger boy with his itty bitty meow and long rangy legs and tail looks like the cat version of Steve Newman (see images), all machismo with lots of love underneath that rugged exterior.

Chicho the Dude is a healthy raw fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #953010005027541, source #RE101165). He is available for adoption right now! His adoption fee also includes his second vaccination at one of our rescue vets.

To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a remote or in-person house check done, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion. Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
We only accept adoptions from people with residency in Australia. If you are on a work or student visa, talk to us about fostering with the group instead!
