About Sasha
Introducing Sasha, our 4-year-old greyhound x bundle of fun.
When Sasha first arrived in to foster care, she was a little bundle of nerves. She walked around with her tail tucked and flinched when people touched her. Watching her grow into a confident and happy pup has been one of the great joys of greyhound rescue. Sasha now loves pats and wants to play with every human she meets and other dogs too.
Sasha finds great joy in stinky sardines, cuddles, relaxing on the couch, squeaky toys, and long walks. She is eager to please and is responding well to basic training. She already knows her name, ‘come’, and ‘sit’. Sasha’s ideal forever home will have the time and desire to continue training and learning. We can help with lots of resources and fun learning games.
We think Sasha is crossed with Kelpie and she certainly has lots of “Kelpie-esque” energy to burn. A home with a reasonably sized yard and room to play would be most appropriate for her. Sasha is not suited to apartments or other homes with no grassy outdoor space.
Sasha walks well on-leash and loves exploring her local neighbourhoods. She can get a bit distracted by other dogs or super interesting smells, but is generally easily redirected by calling her name and rewarding with treats. Sasha is friendly and interested in other dogs her size (e.g. Labradors, Kelpies, Greyhounds). She gets a bit over-excited around smaller dogs, and further slow, socialisation is required here.
Sasha would be happy to continue as an only dog in her forever home, provided she had lots of cuddles, toys and walks. She could also go into a home with another friendly and patient medium to large dog (pending introductions). Sasha has been okay left home alone for up to five hours, provided she has food, toys and outdoor access for toileting. A new home should be aware they will need to re-introduce her to alone time gradually, as she settles in.
