Hi everyone!
My name is Buddy and I am a beautiful boy in search of my furever home! I was rescued from death row in a council pound and have been wonderful to care for since entering my foster home. It is not believed I have ever raced, and I am a very social and happy boy.
I am best buds with the other dog here, so my ideal home has another dog for company - although I would be ok on my own as well, as long as you are home a fair bit! I have not met cats so it is probably best if I don't live with any. I get along well with other dogs, and make friends easily. We expect this will improve with time, and my rescue has learned since rescuing me, that I did live with other dogs with my prior owner, and got along great with everyone. Sadly this is all they know about my past, but it doesn't really matter- let's just focus on my future!
I am currently living behind a 5ft fence and show no sign of wanting to escape, so would love a fence this high or higher to keep me safe. I currently sleep for around 15hrs a day and enjoy 15min walks daily. I may be interested in longer walks or jogs with you, but you'd need to help me train up and get fit as I am more interested in couch potato life! I currently sleep inside at night, and despite how lanky and awkward I am, I travel well in the car. It seems my only fear is high-pitched, weird equipment like the lawn mower...maybe I can hide on the couch while you have it running? I have also learned how to master stairs! When I first came into care, it appeared I'd never seen them, so my carer was patient and consistent in showing me how they work and now I am very proud!
I was a little shy at the vet but let them do what they needed to do. I can be a little nervous when I first meet new humans, but I warm up quickly. A typical greyhound, I have trouble sitting due to tight muscles in my legs, but I am learning other things eg come, heel, outside, bed. I don't really play with toys, instead preferring to just hang out and enjoy your company.
I am well suited to a family with greyhound experience or willingness to educate themselves prior to meeting me, who has either no children or children 8yrs +. Does this sound like you? I'd love you to apply to meet me if so!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. Photos may be sent to our facebook page, or email offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com

If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
