About Billy ~ Blue Heeler ~ On Trial 22/4/21
Billy is a very special 10 month old Blue Heeler who loves his people more than anything. Billy is a typical excitable teenage pup, he is confident and happy, energetic and intelligent.
Billy loves everyone and everything - he is curious and highly affectionate. Being a young dog he also enjoys standard puppy activities like chewing things, digging in the yard & destroying things that you leave for him to find!
Billy came into care with some severe wounds on his back and head and without basic training. With a lot of vet care, time and consistency his wounds are healing well and he has learnt many of the basic commands that will make him a loving and smart family member. He will thrive with someone that has experience with heelers and is committed to helping his old wounds heal and grow over and will keep up his social skills. Advanced training or agility type sports would be right up his alley.
Billy got his wounds from being attacked by another dog - despite his ordeal he loves other dogs.
He is currently living with multiple medium sized dogs who he gets along well with. Billy would enjoy a medium friendly and playful canine friend that he can do zoomies with. A female or male medium sized dog (2-4 years) with no dominance is best , older dogs will find his play style too much. We won’t risk matching him with dominant dogs due to his previous experience being attacked.
Billy will need a medium-large yard with good fencing - due to his breed he would suit acreage as long as the home has a dog mesh house-yard (no cattle fencing or unfenced properties please). He needs to be allowed inside the house as he loves to be where his people are - so if you want an outside only dog he’s not the dog for you.
Billy would be best suited to an individual, couple or a family with no children under the age of 12 as he’s still a puppy who loves to jump when excited and demand all of your attention.
