About Pugsley
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Pugsley
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to us from the pound.
BREED: Mixed breed but with some resemblance to a Pug
General breed traits: Pugs are happy, affectionate, loyal, charming and playful but can be mischievous. Intelligent but wilful makes them challenging to train. They also love to be close to their humans and must be the centre of attention. If trained and well socialised they get along well with other animals and children. Having a flat shape to the face means they don't do well in extremes of hot or cold weather and is definitely an indoor dog. Pugs need constant human companionship - he will follow you around, want to sit on your lap and sleep in bed with you! If you want a loyal bosom buddy a Pug is for you.
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, inquisitive, outgoing, obedient and extremely sweet! He's a bit of a social butterfly who likes to get out and about but is also happy to do his own thing as long as he knows you're nearby.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Pugsley likes to meet new people and experience new things - if he is with his human he is very happy. He loves riding around in the car and going to the beach, although he isn't a big fan of waves at present. He also loves to play chasey and tug of war with the other dog in his foster home.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs and will get excited and run up to them, but not in an aggressive way - he did live with another dog in his first home so could possibly do so again. He could possibly live with a very dog-savvy cat after gentle introduction but as he does like to chase the cat would need to be the resolute boss. We won't home him with any other small animals. He seems to have a particular dislike for ducks!
GENERAL INFO: Pugsley is a very smart, loyal, active boy who loves to be around his people. He is housetrained and is good with his commands. He walks well on his lead. He has a beautiful nature and will make a wonderful, devoted companion. He doesn't like to be left alone and will show his displeasure by chewing anything he can get his paws on. Pugsley has only recently been desexed and so things are still settling, but he does occasionally 'mark' inside a house where there is another dog. We feel this will diminish over time as his hormones balance and he settles into a new home which offers stability and security - something that has been absent in Pugsley's life. His new owner would therefore need to be patient with him while he adjusts and bonds - Pugsley must live in the home so that he can be with his human.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
* Stability: A home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take him with them when they go out. He would love constant companionship with someone who will take him out and about each day.
* Time: Pugsley will need 2 good walks each day to occupy his mind and burn off his energy.
* Space: Due to his current toileting issues, Pugsley needs a large, well fenced, secure yard with some real grass and interesting things for him to sniff.
* Love: Pugsley needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, to sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family. He would go well with dog-savvy, gentle children over 5 years old.
If Pugsley sounds like the perfect boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
