About Aj
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: AJ
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to us from the pound.
BREED: German Shepherd
General breed traits: a working breed that is very versatile - he can excel in the military and police service, for protection, to herd flocks and of course as a companion. Intelligent with high energy a bored GSD may bark and chew. He can be aloof - great for a watchdog but not for a family dog so he needs lots of socialisation with people and dogs from a young age. He can become anxious if left alone for long periods so needs his person around. Daily physical and mental exercise is also a necessity and will keep him healthy and happy. Not a breed for novice owners or those who don't have the time.
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, friendly, obedient, calm and extremely sweet! He's pretty much perfect!
FAVOURITE THINGS: AJ loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home but is very attached to his humans and will happily follow them around. His absolute favourite thing is having one-on-one time with his human on their walks.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs and is happy to play. He has been introduced to several cats in cages and was far too interested, so we wouldn't home AJ with cats or other small species.
GENERAL INFO: AJ is an extremely loyal boy with the most beautiful nature. He doesn't bark very much and is calm and loving. He walks nicely on his lead and knows a few commands. He is housetrained and will make a wonderful, devoted companion. AJ doesn't like to be left alone for long periods and will become anxious so would be better in a home where someone is with him for most of the time.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
*Stability: A home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take him with them when they go out. Due to his love of his people he needs constant companionship with someone who gets him out and about on a daily basis. He would go ok in a home with another calm (preferably female) dog but we think he would prefer to be the 'one and only'!
*Time: AJ will need 2 good walks each day to stimulate his mind and burn off his energy.
*Space: AJ needs a large, well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for him to sniff. He would love to spend time training with his owner - he has a brain that needs to work. He might be a mature boy but the one on one would provide great bonding.
*Love: AJ needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, to sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family. He would go well with dog-savvy, gentle children over 8 years of age who are respectful of his age and personal space.
If AJ sounds like the perfect boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
