About Rush
Where to start with Rush. Named for the speed with which she was raced down from central NSW. Usually a petite little heeler, she was as big as a house with 9 pups on board and about to pop. Our carers brought her down to Victoria so she could have her pups in a place she could feel safe and secure.
Rush has a beautiful nature but is unfortunately very anxious about big people. Our carers haven't seen a single sign of aggression from her, even when having her pups handled, or when cornered when needing to be secured for vet visits.
She is more comfortable around our carer's two young children than she is around our female carer, and more comfortable around the female carer than the male carer. If at all possible she will keep her distance, but when given the opportunity of an unattended open back door she is quick to come inside, and find a quiet corner.
Rush has come a long way with our carers but will need a lot of patience and time spent helping her overcome her fears. She will need to be slowly introduced to lead walking, as this is something very unfamiliar to her, having lived loose on a rural property before coming into care.
Rush has been around cats, kittens and big dogs at her foster home. She has been fine with all of them, showing no interest in the cats and has recently started playing with the bigger dogs when she doesn't know the people are watching.
When she does find her forever person and does open up and begin to trust them, we expect she will be a very loyal and close companion. But this will take time, patience and serious commitment from her people.
