About Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene …. Joleeeeen
Sorry it just had to be done 😊
Now that is suitably stuck in in your head let us talk about this precious baby girl.
Jolene is about 17 weeks old, and we believe her to be a Border Terrier x
She currently weighs 8kg so will probably be the smaller side of medium.
However, with rescue the only guarantee is that there really are no guarantees, so please only consider applying if adult size is not a major factor.
Followers of our page will know Jolene has had a hard start to life and as such she is rather a shy and timid little girl.
We strongly believe she has been thrown or dropped on numerous occasions.
Whilst she improves every day, she still has a terrible fear of being approached from behind and being picked up.
She loves a cuddle and will happily jump up to snuggle beside you or lie at your side or feet but it needs to be slow and on her terms.
Jolene has formed a wonderful bond with her doggo foster brothers and relies on them heavily to show her the way.
Mr Herb is her most favourite dog ever and she is like his shadow.
Mr Herb is the cheekier resident dog and has really brought out her fun side .. much to the dismay of Barney Dog.
Known fondly as "The Fun Police" he likes everything “just so” – they like a little bit of mayhem.
So many and hour is spent with them stealing the toys and him putting them back in their place.
They also love to crazy outrun him on zoomies and to leap over him to chase the birds together.
Mr Herb has tried to show her how to bark at stranger danger, but so far she has only managed a cute little howl here and there.
Jolene is almost house trained but still has an accident or two and her forever family must be okay with this.
Strangers, raised voices, doors banging and being picked up are still triggers for an “accident”
However in her “safe” bubble she is relaxed, cheeky, affectionate and just perfect.
She copes well alone with Mr Herb and Barney dog for company when needed.
Paddy Cat fascinates her and after a hairy first few days she now behaves when he passes by.
We would however suggest a no cat home would be better as the chase instinct is lurking with intent.
Jolene loves her food and waits patiently at dinner time, she also accepts treats gently and waits her turn beautifully.
Jolene’s forever home will need to have :
No Children under 12
A friendly and gentle resident dog
A family where someone is home a lot.
A house that is not too busy and does not have too many people coming and going
No cats.
A family that has infinite patience – matched by an equal amount of love.
If you think that could be you, please send us a detailed message telling us all about yourself and the life you could offer to Jolene.
We will only be inviting the best matches for meets so please do not be afraid to sell yourself.
Please also understand that if we do not contact you for a meet , it is not personal and we will read every application.
Please also understand this baby is painfully shy and she is not a full on, jumpy pup .. its very much a slow burn with Jolene.
But when we know its right, we will know.
Jolene is fully vaccinated and is flea and worm treated to date.
Her adoption fee is $695 and includes desexing at our partner vet when she is old enough.
Jolene is in foster care in Strathpine.
