About Maxx
Maxx is ready for meets and greets.
This little cutie appears to be a rough coat Jack Russell Terrier Cross with something a little larger due to his long legs (maybe a Tenterfield terrier).
He is 8.5kgs so still on the small side.
Maxx is approximately 5 years old and is both people and dog friendly.
He has come from a home with smaller children and is a really sweet and fun and endearing little boy.
Being a true terrier, he sees himself as the protector of the house so will bark at people walking past or strange noises he hears.
He is a loyal and busy little man who works hard to keep his people and space safe but also loves his down time for cuddles and play.
Maxx is toilet trained and can use the doggy door with ease.
He enjoys a treat and quick to line up with his foster brothers to wait his turn nicely and get his share.
He sits on command and takes the treats quite gently.
Maxx quite likes a game of chase the ball, but is a little hit and miss on bringing it back to you.
He thinks you should have to exercise as well, so drops it far enough for you to walk to retrieve it.
He gets excited at mealtimes but can be fussy with the menu.
At his current foster home, he would prefer the cats food and goes on a scavenger hunt to find and devour it.
Although he is living with cats and is respectful of the ones who don’t run or spit and his at him, he is not adverse to a game of “Chase that Cat” so a home with cats would probably not be ideal long term.
He can get a little amorous with his dog bed and blanket on occasions so those who may be easily offended should not apply.
This behaviour seems to appear when something exciting is happening in the house such as people arriving and appears to be comfort / attention driven.
We are hopeful as he relaxes this will subside.
His previous family advises he would dig under fences and head off in search of adventures, but always came back.
His new family should have secure fencing in this regard.
His foster momma has mowing strips under the fencing and has had no issues at all with adventure seeking behaviours.
He would suit most families who are home often or who have another dog to keep him company.
He loves car rides, so if you go out on adventures we think he would enjoy being allowed to come along too.
Walking nicely on a lead is a work in progress but he is getting there.
Max is microchipped, vaccinated, desexed and is up to date with his worm and flea treatments.
His adoption fee is $595 and he is in care at Darra.
If you would like to meet Maxx, please send us a detailed message telling us all about yourself and the lifestyle you could offer to this special boy.
We do anticipate a lot of enquiries for Maxx and his carer will only be contacting the best matches for meets so don’t be shy to sell yourself.
Thank you for understanding this.
