About Winston
Hi, a few weeks ago my name was Rocket, and I was on a very short euthanasia list in a pound. Then I was helped out by SEQ K9 Rescue and it kick started my new life.
I got a new name, you may now call me Winston! I am young and very energetic boy that enjoys daily walks, but I do get excited seeing the world outside. My foster carer has heard me bark about four times in the last few weeks and if I am left at home alone I am perfectly content. My neighbours did not even know I was staying with my foster carer even though I had been here for weeks.
But yes socialisation is a work in progress! I can be excitable but equally I am happy to lay around and sleep during the day in between walks. I am enjoying walking with a harness and am getting better at this. I have met my foster carers grand kids aged five and eight and enjoyed pats but I may be too excitable for little ones so supervision is suggested. I love chasing a ball and returning it to you, after about five times I am happy to collect the ball and leave it somewhere for you to go fetch. I have not tried to dig or escape, but I like to have plenty of chew toys around the house to keep me occupied. I once wanted to play tug-o-war with the hose when my foster carer was watering the garden, but there was no damage and I have not touched the hose unless it is being used as it's boring when just sitting on the reel. I have been living in my foster carers alfresco, which is more like an outside room with kennel blankets etc and it is certainly believed I am house trained, as I wander out to the yard when I need to take care of business.
I want to live a full life- playtime, run on the grass, walk beside you and lay in the sun!
At times I may make you earn your keep with me but I am still a teenager and a work in progress. I have been to the vets where unspeakable acts were carried out, also C5 and worming and general health check conducted; all appears well. In closing if you show me love, patience and kindness paired with further training, I will provide the sloppy kisses and the will to share the rest of my life dedicated only to you!
Yours Sincerely
Winston.
