About Buddy
Buddy will make a great companion for someone but as he spent many years on the streets, he needs access to an outdoor run or secure yard.
Check out him on Instagram to see his amazing progress while in foster care
@MyFosterCatBuddy
His routine is purrs and smoochies first thing in the morning, food and play, then sleep til midday, then a mid day play and snack, more snoozing and hanging out with the heater, an afternoon sit in the garden, then evening food and play, and cuddle against your legs before bedtime. Buddy is finding it nice and warm to sleep at the foot of his foster careers bed on some nights, but also happy with his spot on the sofa 💕
-Personality:
Buddy does not demand constant fondling, care, and attention. He can live happily with people and can also entertain himself.
He appreciates a nice scratch under the chin and between the ears, but he is not like the lap cat. He only uses his voice when he needs something, or not getting food on time.
He likes to reach the highest point in the house. Although he loves sitting outdoors (on nice days only now), he is a couch cat and lives happily indoors.
Although he’s not super cuddly, it makes the times he is cuddly - very special.
He does love his play time - if you are after an older cat who is happy to sleep and chill but has energy for playtime when you are.
He likes to know his humans are nearby, and will greet you when you walk in the door. But, he’s also happy and content with his own company and will amuse himself with toys, or nap the day away.
He’s not a fan of surprises (unless it’s food related!!), so would prefer an adult only home, that is calm and consistent.
Buddy is looking for a special person or family. One who is patient, had cats before and understands cat behaviour + signals, and will take him as he is, give him love.
Buddy is ready for his own home and would be very happy to be an only cat. He had no problems with another cat in care, but we may have to take it slow if there is another cat at home.
He learnt quickly to use a scratching post.
He loves couch time, he will take the whole thing up. He will sit at your legs, or on you, but only a few pats.
He loves to be near you, what ever room you are in. If you are working from home, he would love a comfy spot just next to you, or on the couch with you.
He is perfectly fine to be at home while you’re are at work.
As with most older pets, patience is key. Buddy is good for pats and learning about cuddles and pats after so many years on the streets - he will let you know if he's not wanting more pats, but just needs someone who understands cats.
Buddy sleeps with his tongue out, and has many cute qualities.
Buddy is FIV positive, so he needs to be contained to not spread to others, but having lived on the streets for years he would need a fabulous run or enclosed backyard to play in. Or if you have a long house, he loves his crazy cat moments where he just runs from one end of the house to the other ☺️ but no midnight zoomies, this older fella sleeps through the night.
As Buddy has spent most of his life free on the streets and is FIV positive, he would suit being an only cat and will need a larger cat enclosure/run or access to a contained back yard area.
He needs someone who has had cats, and happy to take their time with him, and let him be him.
He is not tested with dogs but doesn't like the smell of the neighbours, and currently not living with other cats
Medical notes
FIV positive
What does it mean to be the owner of an older, long haired cat, who sometimes has digestive issues... ?
Well, sometimes you also have to clean a furry bum. It's not often, but occasionally, a little cleaning is required. He is fine to be in a shower, and have water aimed on the spot, while he talks at you.
