PROFILE
Teapot came into care at the tender age of 3-4 weeks covered in fleas and weighing only 500g after having been brought into a Sydney Pound as a stray pup. Teapot has since been receiving lots of TLC with an experienced carer and now weighs in at 2.1 and is fit and healthy and ready to find a home of her own.
We are not exactly sure of her breed, however we do believe she has some working breed in her as she has the stalking instinct when playing with her toys and other dogs, some staffy and something smaller perhaps Chihuahua or some other small terrier. What we do know is she is sugar and spice and all things nice:)
We estimate that Teacup will grow to be approximately 10-12 kgs but of course, families will need to be comfortable with a bit of a mystery.
Her carer has been socialising her over the last month or so with different sights, sounds, people, and other vaccinated doggies. Teacup is a super sweet fun girl who will need a dog-savvy family who are looking for an action-packed super star pup to go adventuring and a family who can continue her socialisation and adventures in the outside world.
- Teacup is looking for a home with another confident, friendly, playful doggy pal who is small to medium size and between the ages of approximately 1 to 4 years old. She has been introduced to a few larger breed dogs and has been ok once she knows they will not hurt her however she is desperate to cuddle and play with another dog so would be best suited to a home with a small/medium-sized dog who will interact with her and allow her to cuddle up with of a night. Of course, any new sibling will need to be able to comfortably tolerate a bit of wrestling and puppy antics.
- Adoptive families must understand that Teapot is at a very tender age and needs daily training, careful socialisation and must set her up to succeed. Enrolling in ‘force-free' puppy school is a must as is practicing good habits so Teacup grows up to be a good canine citizen. We can provide recommendations
- Of course, Teacup must have access inside always, a dog door or similar is a must.
daily walks/adventures are a must
" Teacup travels in the car every day so is very comfortable in the car. A home where trips in the car will continue to fun places such as beaches and parks is a must.
- Mental enrichment and exercise! Being a mix of high-energy breeds means a lifetime commitment to daily exercise and enrichment. Whilst Teacup is still a baby it is important to understand her growing body can’t yet walk long distances nor is she suited to just hanging out at the dog park where they might get overwhelmed or learn inappropriate habits from unknown dogs. That is why mental enrichment is so important, getting creative with training, food puzzles and brain games is essential to having a happy, healthy pup. In the future, however, it’s important to note that Teacup will likely need a fair amount of exercise, enrolling Teacup into a sport or a nose works class might be ideal.
- Adoptive families will need to have a plan to bring Teacup into their home, as she is still only young she will need lots of company and assurance to make sure she feels safe and loved. This means being in an environment where she is not left alone for long periods of time. Setting her up for success is super important.
- Located in Sydney, Teacup is only adoptable in NSW
- Children over 10 years old who are respectful of animals would be ok
* When applying please make sure to give as much detail as possible, other pets, family members, lifestyle, how often a new pup would be alone, what exercise, adventures and enrichment you would lprovide, where they will have access, etc.
Medical notes
Teapot has had a vet check, is microchipped, has had her first vaccination and is on flea, worming and heartworm treatment.
Teapot's second C5 vaccination and desexing are included in the adoption fee.
Teapot is too young to be desexed at this time. The adopter will therefore need to agree to take her to our rescue vets located at Beverly Hills for her second C5 vaccination and when she is ready for desexing at approximately 4-5 months of age.
