About Peewee
Peewee is a shiny black beauty with the most gorgeous almond coloured eyes. Weighing in at just under 30kg, he’s a smaller boy who really lives up to his name. He prides himself on providing an important foot warming service throughout the day. If you let him, he’ll curl up underneath your desk and warm your tootsies. His ultimate move is when he dumps his head into your lap for a big behind the ear scritch.
Bouncy with lots of energy, Peewee enjoys a twice daily walk and zoomies. His favourite thing in the whole world (apart from you) is squeaky toys! A squeaky toy really gets his tail wagging. Peewee is the shape of happiness – he greets the day with enthusiasm and adores adventures with you.
His arch-nemesis is the vacuum, but he’s not a fan of loud noises anyway. Bustling, busy traffic also makes him uneasy, so a home in the suburbs with a yard and a quiet walking route would suit Peewee just fine!
Peewee is toilet trained, but when he needs to go – he really needs to go, so apartment living won’t be suitable for his bladder. Peewee will also let you know when he needs to toilet – he likes a bit of chit chat! If you haven’t guessed it, Peewee is driven by routine and if you miss a walk, he’ll make it known!
Peewee’s challenge is that he gets overexcited and can play too rough with other dogs. He’ll need supervision with playtime and calm, gentle introductions with other dog breeds. Peewee’s love cannot be contained, especially when meeting new people and kids. He sometimes forgets his manners – he’s still learning that not everyone appreciates being jumped on!
During his time in foster care, Peewee has studied the sound of his humans sinking into the couch. Quick as a flash, he’ll be by your side and climbing into your lap for a pat. He’s a cuddle machine who thrives on spending time with you. Peewee is still learning the art of patience. Being patient means that Peewee no longer nibbles his foster folk for attention, but understands that pats come to those who wait. You will need to continue his training and have patience with him too!
Currently fostered with an easy-going greyhound brother, Peewee does resource guard his toys and food. However, with a well-matched greyhound companion and an experienced owner, we believe Peewee can live harmoniously with another hound.
Peewee is ready to fall in-love with you.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
