About Willis
If you are a fan of a wrinkly face, our new boy will make you melt. This darling, 2 year old Dogue de Bordeaux boy has a personality that will make even the hardest heart fall in love with him. Sadly though, this boy is not a shining physical example of his breed. He was born with a severely deformed left front leg and his other legs are bowed, meaning that we cannot amputate his bad leg because his other front leg would not be able to support his weight. His growth is stunted and his back legs are longer than his front, meaning that his back end is higher, putting even more pressure on his front legs. He is shorter than expected and at just 35kg, a far cry from the 50 odd kilos he should be. Despite all of this, he was destined to be a breeding male and was waiting for a female to come into season but unfortunately, his biological mum came into season and his biological dad wasn’t happy about another male wanting to mate with his female and he needed somewhere to go. Fortunately for him, a lovely lady knew that he would make a great KPR kid and immediately called me. Thankfully we were able to find 2 wonderful ladies to transport him directly to our vets and with Dr Rob on standby for his arrival, our boy was immediately hospitalised for x-rays and all the usual KPR vet work. Whilst we had initially hoped that we could do something surgical to make this boys life easier, unfortunately, it was not an option. As disappointed as we are that we cannot “fix” this gorgeous, sweet boy, what we can do is ensure that he has a bright future. Willis needs a home where he will have access to soft areas (grass, carpet etc). He is very capable of walking and although his gait is unusual, it doesnt hold him back. He is not the sort of dog who can go for long walks or runs but he is a happy boy, content to stay at home or go for drives in the car. Willis is extremely loving and affectionate. He would be best suited to a home without young kids as he has never lived with them. Willis would be fine with a medium sized female doggie friend but needs a home without cats.
