About Buckley
Sweet, speckled moo-hound, Buckley is a giant snuggle bug. Our boy will steal your heart, and if you let him, your bed too! Each day, Mister Buckley wakes up happy. Every day is a slumber party for our darling boy! He’ll be first to greet you, but watch out, he’s quick to give you wet nosed kisses!
Buckley is a love sponge, he soaks up his daily dose of snugs and scritches, and just adores time spent with his humans. His all-time favourite is being tucked into bed with you.
He’s a charming gentleman who likes to check up on what you’re up to. He’s a classic shadow snoot, following you from room-to-room. Don’t be surprised if you hear his footsteps outside the bathroom door – he assures us that he’s just making sure his humans haven’t fallen in.
During his time in foster care, Buckley has adapted well to pet-life. He’s toilet trained and has learnt how to be a good house guest. Whilst Buckley is a sweet boy, he does have a cheeky streak! He’s a sneaky bower bird and you’ll often find him in his bed with a stash of stolen goods; the blanket from the couch, a cushion and your jumper will make it into his comfy nest.
When he’s not clocking up his snooze miles, he’s being silly! He’s goofy and gorgeous and will make your heart swell when he parades his teddy around the house. He loves to play too and will make you laugh when he gets the sillies and performs short burst zoomies around the house.
Whilst Buckley would prefer his humans are around more often than not, he’s accommodating when you do go to work to replenish his snack fund. Buckley will spend the day snoozing, but ask that you rush home to refill his pat-o-metre. Buckley can live as a solo snoot, or with another large dog companion who doesn’t mind sharing the love.
Gentle during play with his humans, Buckley can become rambunctious and overenthusiastic with other dogs, so you’ll need to ensure play is supervised. Mister Buckley is still learning that the kitchen isn’t self-serve, so you’ll need to ensure that food stuffs are put away and your bench is clear. If you leave your sandwich out, it might not be there when you return to it. Being food motivated will make training with Buckley a piece of cake.
Build the bed-fort, bring the blankets, Buckley is ready to love on you.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
