About Pet Muscovy Ducks and Silkies Hens Drakes Roosters
Please note our rural NW Victorian location of Berriwillock 3531 before you enquire, thank you! Friendly, shy, docile, quiet young adult male drakes, no quacking involved! Our boys love being hand fed greens and weeds and primarily eat feed oats with Laucke Gamebird Maintenance pellets. Ducks do not require as much calcium as chickens so please do not feed them chicken pellets. Additional niacin supplementation can be provided by soaking frozen peas in water or by providing Brewers yeast powder which can be wet with their Gamebird pellets to make a mash. Muscovy drakes live very happily in male only groups, without females present. Their diet consists of garden insects/mealworms, soft leaved green vegetables and weeds eg dandelion, milk thistle, kale, soft green grasses. They do not like citrus but will eat some soft fruit scraps. They co-exist happily with all farm animals and males do not fly at all due to their heavy weight. Females and males must be housed separately. Ducks must live together as a small group/colony and will not be adopted as individual pets. They require large amounts of clean water and enjoy large, heavy water vessels for bathing, grooming and drinking. They should have access to natural grassy areas to forage for natural insects and minerals which is an important part of a healthy natural waterfowl diet.

Do you have a large land area and/or ideally a farm with a constant water source? If so, please read on!
We have black/white pied muscovy hens, drakes and silkie bantams for adoption. Muscovies are large sized waterfowl whom require a constant water supply, large drinking vessels and large grassed areas to roam, so farms are ideal for them. Not suitable for residential size blocks. Muscovy ducks live in small colonies in the wild and will happily live together without a female present. It is absolutely essential that males are kept strictly separate from females in an escape proof area.

We prefer as much information as possible for our adoption screening process, including photos of external environment, land size, enclosures/pens and size, description of other pets/breeds kept.
Photos are required of your established poultry enclosure, before any adoption application is approved.
