About Smokey Naismith
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html
Please note: Smokey must go to a home with an existing friendly, playful cat, or with one of his siblings; Cinders and/or Sylvester.
Smokey is a very gentle, sensitive soul even though he runs around and rough and tumbles with his siblings. He is a stunning looking boy, reminding his foster family of a baby koala with his gorgeous colouring and slightly fuzzy fur. He is very affectionate, doesn't mind being picked up but really likes to snuggle on your lap or on your bed with you, when he is tired out from playing and ready for a nap. He will approach you for attention and affection, enjoying a gentle pat or just to be near you.
Smokey adores his siblings, he takes his nurturing role seriously and loves to groom them and make sure they are clean and looking their best. He is very curious about the resident cat and keen to make friends. Smokey loves to run around and play with his siblings, chasing them around the house, enjoying a good wrestle and playing with the toys. He loves to climb the big scratching post/cat tree.
Smokey is the most cautious of his litter, and even though not shy, he gets a fright more easily than the others with household and external noises etc. He recovers quickly but can run and hide initially.
Due to this darling boy's sensitive nature, he is looking for a quieter home with a kind, loving family who is around more often than not to keep him company and dish out the affection he needs. If there are children in the home, they will need to be calm and more mature.
If Smokey is not rehomed with one of his gorgeous siblings, he will need a friendly resident cat or kitten who will enjoy regular playtime with him and hopefully a snuggle. Smokey is completely litter trained. Untested with dogs at this stage.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
