About George & Mildred
George and Mildred are a bonded pair – they will not be separated.
They have come from a loving home, who unfortunately had to be placed into emergency rescue to rehome. They were successfully placed into a loving country based home, however, with unsavoury neighbours, they were returned to Rescue for their own safety, leaving their adopter devastated.
So this will be their third and final home – so unless you have sound experience or extensive knowledge of the Chihuahua breed – please do not proceed thinking these pocket rockets will be a walk in the park – they are high energy, high maintenance but also love downtime and a snuggle on the couch with each other or on their humans lap.
They both like to bark and chase the birds that land in the backyard or sit on the fence. So, ongoing training will be a MUST !!!
They are ok with cats but will need supervision as they will play chase if not checked. They do normal doggy things like bark when they hear unexpected loud noises or movements around the home.
Training will need to be continued as initially they may wish to mark their territory, we still see accidents and find surprises around the house, so you will need to be patient and prepared to nurture their insecurities and ensure that they have 24/7 access to outdoor area for toileting.
They are used to having limited access to house areas with room dividers and puppy pens for quiet time out and night-time whilst they are in training or getting settled into their new environment. They would love and prefer to sleep on your bed with you – but will also settle into a puppy pen or their own room for the night too. They will bark in the morning to let you know it is time for their toilet stop and then they will just want to spend all day with you inside.
If you have access to young children, they have proven to be good with young kids, but wouldn’t make great playing companions, as they prefer the quieter life. They get on with other dogs but do display their dominance trait. This means all new dog introductions should be monitored and slow.
Mildred is the pack leader (Boss) and George is the softy (can be a bit of a scardy-cat), so he follows. But they support and need each other – George can be a little nervous if Mildred is not around but can settle if he feels secure.
They both need and love their morning and nightly walks. They walk together and are easy to control – but be warned – you cannot let them off the leash as they will bolt and chasing them just makes the game that much better and harder for you to catch !! Their foster carer, a fit man, albeit it 1k later, was outrun and outwitted and needed a lift home.
Their forever home needs to be with a patient devoted couple located in a quite area that has a dog and dig proof yard, who is attentive to their high quality diet, gives twice daily walks and be allowed to snuggle on the couch, your lap, your chest, your shoulders – your everything.
Do you have what it takes to provide George & Mildred with their perfect home ??
Adoption details

Communication with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience and the Chia’s are excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt.
Only adoption applications from Australian permanent residents whose homes are based in Victoria will be considered. They are best suited to a older couple who are home based at least 80% of the time, as they will each choose a lap as their own or don’t be surprised that both end up close and personal on only one !!
These two do not like to be left alone for long periods of time – so if you lead a busy social life that would see them home alone often – then these babies are not for you.
