About Bonnie
Bonnie here! I’m writing to let you know that I’m ready to find my forever home.
The first thing you notice about me is my big smile and how much I adore pats. In fact, if you stop patting me I’ll keep putting my head under your hand to beg you for more. Like any old lady I like to nap throughout the day and have an early night.
I’m happy to amuse myself, but if you’ve been out I’ll make sure you know that you were missed with a happy dance and song when you get back. Lately I have loved learning commands like sit, come, and lie down, and am excited to keep learning more as long as treats are involved!
I’m not sure about cats and am better around male dogs, though may be happiest if my new home has no other pets.
Balls on the other hand are a big yes, they’re one of my favourite things! Oh, and walks and car rides!!
The most important thing my new owner needs is patience. I don’t mean to make you feel sad, but in my long life I have been through some trauma.
To feel safe, I try to feel like I’m in control and I’m sorry if it comes across as bossy. Because of my experiences I’m often worried that my freedom or my bed is about to be taken away from me, so I’m not always at my best if you’re closing a door or have found me asleep.
Thankfully, in my time in foster care I’ve started to learn that humans want to give, not take away! I’m making progress with trusting humans again and to keep that going, I’ll need you to set clear boundaries.
I think it’s best if you don’t have any small humans in your home. If I’m stressed or overwhelmed I can get carried away with chasing my tail, so appreciate if you can call me over for a reassuring pat instead.
Please give me a heads up if you’re close so that I don’t get startled. I’m not a boring dog, I’m sassy and everyone who has met me has loved me for it. I’m dreaming of a calm home where I can be a cuddle bug when I feel like it, as well as have my own space.
I think that’s about it from me but if you have any questions paw-lease get in touch or go ahead and submit an application.
Please read carefully!
Bonnie is a biter. We think she may have been spoilt in the past and likes to be boss of the house. It generally happens when she’s on a bed or sofa and if someone tries to move her she bites.
Bonnie’s foster carer has been working on some training with her under the guidance of a professional trainer, but it’s a slow process and we think Bonnie will benefit from continued and consistent training in a stable environment - her forever home.
Her new family will need to be 100% committed to continuing her training and helping her improve. She is a lovely girl otherwise
Medical notes
Bonnie has been desexed, microchipped and is up to date with C5 vaccination. She has recently had a dental scale and polish and needed no extractions.
Bonnie has had a patella surgery prior to coming into our care, and we have since done leg X-rays and she has a good range of movement in her legs.
She is up to date with flea, tick, heart worm and intestinal worm prevention.
