About 🌟Remy🌟
**Please note: Only enquiries accompanied by a completed adoption questionnaire, will receive a response - http://squishiesrescue.org.au/adoption-application/application-dog/**
Remy is the most loyal, loving and cheeky little Shepherd. At just 13 weeks of age, she has already showed significant intelligence with basic obedience training. She will come when called, sit on command and is currently working on figuring out the difference between sit & drop. She understands the ‘toilet’ command and rarely has an accident inside.
She is well socialised - currently living in a home with three small dogs, a greyhound and has met and played well with other large dogs. She can be quite timid to start with, but once she finds her feet she’s unstoppable.
However, she’s not all sunshine and rainbows. She is a puppy, and she loves to chew! Whether that’s her wide range of toys, her foster mum’s best pair or shoes, or whatever she happens to find on the ground - if she can sink her teeth into it she will!
Remy loves people. She doesn’t have to be by your side, but wants to know that you are nearby. Although, she doesn’t mind being alone for short periods and will often find a cosy spot to sleep in until you return.
She has been in care with young children, and while she isn’t rough or aggressive with them, she is still a puppy and has a habit of play biting anything and everything - so constant supervision around children would be a must.
She hasn’t had much experience walking on a lead, but has walked off lead and stays close to her foster mum. She’s not an escape artist, and happily sleeps anywhere - most often being found in a pile of sawdust.
She doesn’t mind travelling in the car, but does tend to cry if someone isn’t touching her!
Her ideal home would be with someone that was with her for the majority of the week - whether that’s being at home, or being able to take her to work with you. She would love another dog to play with, but her foster mum thinks that having people around is the most important thing for her. Remy requires a decent size yard to play in and daily walks. She is not suited to apartment living.
Even as a puppy, Remy needs exercise and this will obviously only increase as she gets older. She loves to play with her toys, run with her foster siblings and run up the stairs when her big paws will let her. She loves her squeaky toys, especially at 5am. She would be well suited to an active family, who will truly welcome her into their home. She’s an intelligent girl, who will need a family that can keep her stimulated and happy.
Remy's life could so easily have been very different to the bright future of love and companionship she now has. Rem was an impulse purchase from a backyard breeder. Remy was purchased for $5500. She was only 8 weeks old, had only had one vaccination (the day before) wasn't desexed and of course she was far too young to be away from her mum and siblings. In addition to all of this, Remy had no training, toileted in the house and rolled in it and as a result of having been fed by her "breeder", (and the purchaser also instructed to continue feeding it) raw meat and the cheapest of dry foods, she had a nasty bacterial infection that saw her having horrendous and potentially life threatening, bloody gastro within days of being purchased. It was at this point that Remy was surrendered to us. In the 4 weeks she's been in care, Remy has had multiple vet trips and medications, premium food, has been desexed and vaccinated, been crate trained, house trained and basic command trained, socialized and loved as the incredible treasure she is.
Remy is in care in Trafalgar.
