About Tama
Tama is no ordinary puppy. She has been hand raised from 1 week of age and had no other siblings. Tama has been making up for all of this with one of our trainers who has been ensuring she is gaining core skills; however, she will need very experienced and active owners who will be able to understand her and meet her needs.
It is preferrable for her new owners to have prior working dog/kelpie experience. In saying that, she is fantastic and has a whole lot of potential in the right hands. She is definitely a dog sports candidate.
During training sessions, she is focused and motivated to learn. Tama is crate trained and travels well in the car. Her new owners must be strongly committed to continuing her training and socialisation.
Puppy school is a good start, but she will require obedience classes as well to put her brain to use. She would benefit from engaging in further dog activities as well for mental and physical stimulation (e.g. agility, flyball, nose works, obedience, trick training, etc.)
Tama has been socialised with many dogs and other puppies. She has good social skills and body language with other dogs. She enjoys playing with other dogs but is also respectful of adult dogs and listens to their correction if given. Currently, Tama is living with a working line GSD and they get along great. She would be well suited to living with another dog, preferably another working dog/kelpie.
She is expected to be a larger kelpie size when fully grown (around 15-20kg) and a very active dog who will require substantial daily exercise and daily mental stimulation.
Tama loves a cuddle and will crawl into your lap for some loving; however, this is something that she only likes on her terms when she wants it. She is not keen to be over handled or picked up. It makes her frustrated and she will let you know how she feels about it.
Tama loves to play with toys of all different kinds including balls. She also will enjoy hours of food enrichment activities like kongs.
As mentioned, we are looking for a very experienced home for Tama where she will be a part of the family but also given boundaries and guidance. Her new home will ideally have another dog for her to learn from and play with but an exceptionally experienced home (e.g. experienced in dog sports and working breeds) without another dog will be considered. She should be allowed inside to be with the family and will require a warm comfy bed to sleep on inside at night.
Her new owner must be knowledgeable and confident enough to provide appropriate corrections to Tama. She should not be allowed to get away with having little tantrums and will require correction to ensure that she does not develop habits like ankle
biting. She is not suitable for a home with children as she requires structure and consistency; older teenagers/adults will be ok.
Tama is young enough to be integrated with other types of animals and has grown up with a cat and caged birds.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
